Concession Stand Snacks

Ice Cream is a Sure Fire Way to Increase Concession Stand Sales this Summer

Imagine for just a moment… it’s a hot summer day, you’re at the ballpark watching your kid’s little league game and you get hungry for a snack. You head over to the concession stand and there’s a big sign that says “Ice Cream.” What do you do?

Get a scoop or two, of course!

After all, who can resist ice cream in the summer? Or any time of the year for that matter!

Concession stand operators know the secret to profits is adding food and snacks that fans are going to gobble up. Ice cream is not only a fan favorite but also a high-profit item.

If you’re considering adding ice cream to your concession stand or snack bar, you can either go with soft-serve or hard. Soft serve requires an initial investment in an ice cream machine, but it quickly pays for itself with sales. Hard ice cream requires a freezer (obviously) and has less maintenance than if you were operating a soft-serve machine.

Once you’ve weighed the pros and cons of soft vs hard ice cream, it’s time to start thinking about flavors. Of course, no ice cream stand is complete without the two most popular flavors – vanilla and chocolate. For soft-serve operators, you can go with those two and call it a day!

If you’re serving up hand-scooped ice cream, cookies and cream, mint chocolate chip, and chocolate chip cookie dough wrap up the top five most popular ice cream flavors, so consider adding those to your lineup.

Now that you’ve got your ice cream picked out, it’s time to think about how to increase your profit margin even more. The simplest way to do it is to sell ice cream treats such as sundaes and banana splits or offer toppings for an additional charge.

If you’re going to be offering items besides simple cones, be sure to stock up on ice cream boats and containers such as styrofoam squat cups and lids, or larger parfait cups.

Choosing the right toppings to offer is as important as choosing the right flavors of ice cream. The most popular ice cream toppings include peanut butter cups, cookie dough (we have birthday cake, chocolate chip, and chocolate covered cookie dough!), marshmallows like our delicious Marshmallow Charms, and of course sprinkles!

Giving your customers the opportunity to customize their ice cream treat with toppings not only increases customer satisfaction but by charging a little extra helps your concession stand’s profit margin rise.

DAVID Sunflower Seeds Summer’s Salty Snack We All Love

One of our favorite summertime snacks, and one we love to take to the ballpark, is sunflower seeds. These salty treats have long been associated with summer sports and one brand in particular – DAVID Seeds – is known as the “official brand of baseball and softball.”

Believe it or not, DAVID Sunflower Seeds were first introduced way back in 1926 inside a California grocery store. The roasted then seasoned seeds became such a hit that nearly a hundred years later they’re still as popular as ever.

DAVID Sunflower Seeds are American-grown and still made the old-fashioned way. While the original flavor is still the most popular, the line has evolved to include some tasty flavors that you may want to experience yourself. So let’s dive into the different flavors of summer’s favorite seed:

DAVID Original Flavor Sunflower Seeds
This is the one that started it all nearly a century ago. Roasted in the shell, these seeds have the salty taste you’re familiar with and are a staple item at concession stands and snack bars at ballparks. Even if you’re not at the ball game, grab a bag and take them along to work with you as a great afternoon snack.

DAVID BBQ Flavor Sunflower Seeds
Summer and bar-b-que go hand in hand so there’s no better pairing than DAVID sunflower seeds and the flavor of tangy BBQ seasoning. Whether you’re selling these at your snack bar or picking up a box or two for snacks during a cookout, you can’t go wrong!

DAVID Ranch Flavor Sunflower Seeds
We knew ranch dressing wasn’t meant just for salads when people started dipping slices of pizza and french fries in this creamy condiment. If you’re a ranch now is the time for you to sample something a bit different – ranch-flavored sunflower seeds! We’ll admit we were a bit skeptical at first, but we’re sold on this unique flavor on one of our favorite summer snacks.

Now that we have your mouth watering and your taste buds craving some of the delicious flavors of sunflower seeds, we bet you’re having a hard time deciding which one to buy. Have no fear, we can solve the dilemma! Instead of buying a whole box of one flavor, we also can mix and match the three different flavors so you can sample them all. Just click here to purchase individual bags of each.

If you’re looking to add DAVID Sunflower Seeds to your little league or sports team’s concession stand, be sure to check out our wholesale program for resellers, or contact us for more information.

Top Off Your Ice Cream with Candy Bar Toppings

Did you know that ice cream is one of the most profitable items you can sell at a concession stand? It’s true! Along with popcorn and cotton candy, ice cream has a high-profit margin and is one of those items that everyone wants to buy on a hot summer day.

Whether you’re selling soft-serve or hand-dipped ice cream, you can increase your profits per scoop by adding an up-charge for toppings. After all, who wouldn’t want to top off their dish or cone with sprinkles, cherries, or pieces of their favorite candy bars?

Did we just say candy bars?

Sure did!

We had a feeling you didn’t know that many of the most popular candy bars are available as ice cream toppings. Available in bulk packing, these candy bar toppings are already chopped up and ready to put in your service area without any additional work by you or your staff. Simply create a few signs advertising your available toppings, sit back and watch your profits add up!

Here’s are a few candy bars that are packaged and ready to go as ice cream toppings:

Kit Kat
You don’t have to break off a piece of a Kit Kat bar to top a cone, the work is already done for you in this 10lb bag of chopped Kit Kat bars. That’s enough to top about 300 ice cream cones or sundaes.

Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
Everyone loves Reese’s and it’s going to be hard to “top” this perfect combination of chocolate, peanut butter, and ice cream. These chopped-up Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups come in a 5lb bag and are perfect for topping sundaes, cones, or used in milkshakes.

Can you tell which is Left Twix and which is Right Twix? Nope! Not here because there’s a whopping 10lbs of both left and right Twix chopped up and ready to top off the perfect ice cream cone or sundae.

We all know that “Snickers satisfies,” and these chopped-up Snickers bars will certainly satisfy your customer’s ice cream cravings. This huge 5lb bag is full of delicious Snickers chocolate, peanuts, and nougat pieces.

Of course, there are a lot more ice cream toppings available than just candy bar pieces. Be sure to check out all of our ice cream toppings for use at home or at your snack bar, concession stand, ice cream shop, or convenience store.

A Trio of New Concession Stand Snacks to Make Your Sales Soar

With little league season starting up soon, we’re here to help you hit a home run at your concession stand! So far, we’ve written about how ice cream has a great profit margin and the creative ways you can “top off” the sale with our selection of ice cream toppings. We’ve also shared must-have fan-favorite candy, snacks, and of course snack bar supplies.

Today we’re touching three new, unique items that are sure to make your cash register ring! Let’s start off with an amusement park and county fair favorite…

Cotton Candy
No need to invest in equipment, supplies, and training with our ready-to-sell cotton candy! Plus, the unique names, flavors, and bright colors attract attention and become an almost instant sale. We stock nearly two dozen flavors of ready-to-eat cotton candy including churro, root beer, pickle, pizza, and even bacon!

Jositos Wild Fire Chili & Lime Corn Chips
There’s a new player in the game-day snack lineup! New for the season is Jositos corn chips that combine a bit of heat with a hint of lime. Pair them with a cold drink and your fans will be chillin’ in the stands while the game (and their mouth) heats up!

Your fans are going to absolutely love these S’moresles candy treats. The delicious taste of s’mores is now bite-sized! Each of these graham cracker, marshmallow, and chocolate-coated pieces are packed in a concession stand size box – that’s perfect for sharing.

Keep in mind that when choosing candy to sell at your concession stand, we recommend keeping the weather and temperature in mind. Chocolate and candy that can melt do not hold up well in transit and with most concession stands not being air-conditioned, you don’t want to be throwing away melted candy.

Need help in deciding what to carry at your snack bar this season? We can help! We’ve been in the business for over 80 years and help leagues, fire departments, schools, and other organizations stock their stands with products that sell. Feel free to contact us with any questions you have.

Charms Marshmallow Bits

Stock Your Concession Stand with these Fan Favorites

With the little league and summer sports season right around the corner, we’ve been sharing our favorite concession stand snacks as well as must-have concession stand supplies to help you get your stand ready for your fans. Today we’re going to take a look at some of the most popular concession stand candy that your customers will love.

When choosing snack bar candy, it’s important to keep the weather in mind. You may think that chocolate bars would be a good idea, but couple the summer heat with an unairconditioned candy counter, and you have a recipe for disaster. So unless you have the ability to keep chocolate from melting, we advise sticking some alternatives such as these:

Laffy Taffy
Taffy has come a long way since it was first introduced back in 1880 and today the most popular brand of this chewy treat is none other than Laffy Taffy. For concession stands or parades, we recommend Laffy Taffy Ropes. These individually wrapped taffy ropes come in an assortment of flavors and are perfect for selling by the piece.

Everyone loves Nerds so be sure to stock some at your concession stand! Available in several different flavors, the small boxes of these sweet (or sour) treats don’t take up a lot of space and their price point makes them a perfect choice. Start out with a few flavors such as grape/strawberry or What-a-Melon/cherry to tickle your fan’s taste buds.

Twizzlers Licorice
Another perfect concession stand candy is individually wrapped Twizzlers – just like you would find at old-fashioned candy counters! Each box contains 180 Twizzlers and we can guarantee you that your customers will buy more than one because nobody can resist the great strawberry flavor licorice fans crave.

Charms Super Blow Pops
Lollipops have long been a candy counter staple and here’s one that’s always a favorite because it’s actually two treats in one. Charms Blow Pops contain a bubble gum center that’s surrounded by a delicious lolly. This display-ready box contains 48 pops in assorted flavors.

Bazooka Bubble Gum
Want to give your fans a little nostalgia? Here’s one that will really take them back in time – Bazooka bubble gum in retro throwback packaging. Each box contains 12, 6-packs of this classic gum that people will instantly recognize and enjoy.

These are just a few of our recommendations. Be sure to check out all the concession stand candy we recommend and don’t forget to check out our selection of snacks and snack bar supplies to help you increase profits at your concession stand this season.

Must Have Disposable Concession Stand Supplies

When it comes to stocking your concession stand this spring and summer, it’s not all about what candy and snacks you need to have on hand for your hungry fans. If you’re selling grab-and-go food items, you also need to stock up on disposables.

Due to COVID-19, it’s more important than ever that your snack bar customers are treated to a clean, hygienic environment when picking up their food. So we’re sharing some items that are absolutely essential:

Face Coverings
Face masks are still required in many venues and locales and you should follow guidance for your location for compliance. However, it’s recommended that all workers behind your concession stand counter wear some type of approved facial covering. Disposable face masks are your best bet as they can quickly be replaced when soiled or wet during a hot day working in the sun. We are stocking both youth and adult-size face masks available in 25 and 50 packs.

Hand Sanitizer
We all know the importance of washing our hands and using sanitizer when a sink isn’t available. Concession stand operators should keep hand sanitizer easily available for use by both employees and customers. We’re stocking bottles of hand sanitizer that can be placed at your cash register or order counter that customers can use when ordering and picking up their food. If you have tables or a counter for eating, we recommend placing a few bottles around for your customers to use.

Now let’s talk about some disposable serving items. There’s some nice profit to be made off of hot “ballpark” food and serving it up quickly and in an easy-to-consume way will make your hungry fans satisfied.

Hot Dog Trays
Baseball, hot dogs, and apple pie – the summer trio! Hot dogs are a quick and easy way to feed all your fans. Serve ‘em up in either a foam hot dot container that is designed to be closed up to keep the hot dog warm while it travels from your concession stand to the bleachers or for a more cost-effective solution, a simple paper hot dog tray fits the bill and allows your fans to easily top their dog with their favorites without fumbling.

Hot Dog Trays

Nacho Trays
Who can resist nachos and cheese? Nobody! And with a huge profit margin, nachos are a no-brainer for your concession stand. Make it easy for your fans to carry their nachos back to their seat with this disposable plastic tray that holds the perfect portions of chips and cheese.

Nacho Trays

French Fry Trays
Whether you’re frying or baking them, they go perfect with a hot dog! We’re talking French fries and your fans will be lining up for them. Give them a big helping of the starchy fan favorite and make it easy for them to add ketchup, nacho cheese, or even vinegar to their snack by serving your fries in these disposable paper trays.

French Fry Boats

Fan Favorite Concession Stand Snacks

We recently wrote about some fan-favorite concession stand candy, today we’re talking savory snacks! After all, watching your favorite little league team round the bases can work up an appetite. So when the spectators start lining up for a quick grab-and-go snack, you’ll want to have a selection that will drive up sales. So let’s take a look at some tried and true top sellers.

Van Holten’s Dill Pickles
The perfect healthy snack choice that everyone loves! Van Holten’s dill pickles are individually packaged and perfect for concession stands. Refrigerate them or keep them on ice to provide your customers with a cool, refreshing snack.

Amish Smokehouse Beef Sticks
These meaty snacks are always a crowd pleaser and one that’s pretty hard to resist. They don’t take up much counter space, making them perfect for placing right next to your cash register as an upsell or impulse buy. Available in mild, spicy, pepperoni, and honey beef, these beef sticks from Amish Smokehouse are a delicious snack.

Cracker Jack
Baseball and Cracker Jack go hand-in-hand and no concession stand is complete without stocking this nostalgic treat. Besides the delicious caramel-covered popcorn and peanuts that made this snack famous, each box still contains a prize! With a low price point, your fans will gobble these up.

Planters Peanuts
When your fans are craving a salty snack, break out the Planters! Individually packaged small bags of cashews and almonds hit the spot and go perfect with a cold bottle of water or pop. We recommend cashews and almonds as there are no shells that lead to extra cleanup once the game is over.

Everyone’s favorite 90’s snack is back and your fans can be one of the first to experience it once again! We bet you can remember dunking the vanilla cookies into the creamy vanilla frosting as a kid and now a whole new generation can experience it – right at your team’s next game.

Of course, these are just a few of the many concession stand snacks we have available. If you’re not sure what exactly to stock at your stand, contact us! With over 80 years of experience in the candy and snack industry, we know what can make you money and what fans are looking for.

Big League Chew is just as popular today and is available in more flavors than ever. This is one must-have item for your concession stand.

Haribo Gummy Bears
We know how hard it is to resist certain candy and one that appeals to all age groups is everyone’s favorite gummy candy – Haribo Gummy Bears. The original gummy bear is a perfect addition to your concession stand. With 2 package sizes perfect for snacking, a 0.5oz and a 2oz, we’re confident these will be a hit with your fans.

Haribo Gold-Bears gummi bears

Charms Blow Pops
Everyone’s favorite lollipop will score big at your concession stand. The classic Charms Blow Pop is an inexpensive, fast-selling, treat that will fly off the shelf. Grab a 100 count or even a 700 count box of these pops in fan-favorite flavors including sour apple, cherry, strawberry, watermelon, and grape.

Atomic Fireballs
The game may be heating up, but we bet it’s not as hot as this classic concession stand candy! The individually wrapped Atomic Fireball jawbreakers have been around since 1954 and are the perfect addition to your snack bar and can be sold at a price your fans will find hard to resist.

Tips for Planning a Perfect Family Movie Night Complete with Candy and Snacks!

Looking for fun things to do at home with your family now that spring is here and summer is right around the corner? We previously talked about fun activities such as making S’mores and whipping up a batch or two of delicious Rice Krispies Treats using our new kits. Today, our sights are set on Movie Night!

Movies are a great way to bring the whole family together for an hour or two of wholesome entertainment. Here’s some tips for planning a movie night with your family:

  1. Pick the venue! You don’t need to get in your car for family movie night, have everyone vote on whether to screen the chosen movie either indoors or outdoors. Inflatable movie screens and projectors for outdoor viewing are readily available online and they’re not as expensive as you may think.
  2. Pick the movie! Will it be a comedy, mystery, thriller, or a classic like Mary Poppins? Let everyone pick one movie they would like to see, and then either vote or randomly pull a title out of a hat to choose the evening’s flick.
  3. Pick the snacks! We admit, this is our favorite part of planning for family movie night and there’s no shortage of recommendations, so let’s roll film on some great movie candy and snacks.

Nobody can watch a movie without snacking on popcorn, so having this snack on hand is considered a must. We like to make ours the old fashioned way, on the stove or in an popper, as opposed to the microwave.

Concession Stand Size Snacks
If you really want to get creative, you can setup a concession stand somewhere in your house where everyone can go and pick out a snack or two to take into the “theatre.” Of course, since this is movie night, skimpy size bags of candy won’t cut it. You need the big sizes just like they sell at your local theatre’s concession stand. We’ve got a huge selection of movie theatre size candy to choose from including all time favorites like Jujyfruits, Mike & Ike, and of course, Twizzlers.

Helpful Tip: Choose your candy wisely!  It’s warm out there this time of year, so choose candy that won’t melt during transit.  Gummy candy, licorice and other types that won’t melt are what we recommend so your audience isn’t disappointed by a melted mess of chocolate.

Theme Candy to the Movie
Now’s here where you can become the star of movie night. If you’re going to be watching the classic film JAWS, be sure to order a bag of gummy sharks!

Watching a Disney movie featuring Mickey Mouse and pals? Don’t forget to order some bags of Mickey and Minnie Mouse Jelly Belly jelly beans.

There’s so many different ways to pair candy with the type of movie your watching, so put your thinking cap on and use the search feature on our site to come with the perfect movie-candy pairing.

Cotton Candy
Cotton candy, or candy floss, isn’t just found at fairs and carnivals and you don’t need a machine at home to make it for your night at the movies. We have ready-to-eat cotton candy in a rainbow of flavors that makes it easy to add this sweet treat to your lineup.

Planning a family movie night isn’t hard and everyone can play a role in making it come to life. So pick your movie, order your candy and snacks, and get ready to yell… roll film!
