Five Tips for Icing Up the Perfect Gingerbread House

Gingerbread houses are a time-honored tradition during the holidays. Getting your family together, enjoying some sweet desserts, and putting on some holiday music is the perfect way to create your own gingerbread house.

Now if you’re a baker at heart and want to fire up the oven and bake your own gingerbread to be the foundation for your creation, we won’t judge!  But we’re here to make it easy for everyone to build their holiday dream home the quick and easy way with one of our gingerbread house kits.

Step 1: Choose the perfect gingerbread house kit.
Each year our shelves are stocked with all types of different gingerbread houses, from the traditional to ones centered around favorite candy such as the Airheads Gingerbread House or the Tootsie Roll Gingerbread House.  Pick your favorite, or if you’re baking your own, be sure to pick up plenty of gingerbread house candy to decorate.

Step 2: Make sure you have the right supplies on hand.
Have a lot of free time during the holidays? We didn’t think so. Our gingerbread house kits have all the gingerbread house decorating supplies you’ll need, such as icing mix, gingerbread, and all the perfect candy to trim your gingerbread house, included right inside it. This makes decorating so much easier, and you won’t need to run to the store mid-way through gingerbread house creating!

Step 3: Decide what you’d like to decorate.
Decorating the roof and walls of your gingerbread house is a must, but also consider decorating the outside surrounding area of your gingerbread house kit it really makes your gingerbread house look spectacular!  If you’re looking to go all out and add some additional decor to your holiday hut, we’ve got plenty of extra bling to add around the exterior such as gingerbread men and more!

Step 4: Have food coloring on hand.
Have some food coloring left over from Easter? Just your basic colors are needed to enhance your gingerbread house kit even more.  You can drizzle some blue food coloring over the icing trim on the roof of your gingerbread house, or turn the candy inside your gingerbread house kit to whatever color you’d like!

Step 5: Top it with a sprinkle of holiday shimmer.
Everything seems to shine with a special glow during the holidays, doesn’t it? Sprinkle some gold and silver shimmer dust over your gingerbread house, and it’ll add the perfect magical touch to your gingerbread house kit!
