Conversation Hearts Candy has been sending smiles to our lips since 1902 when the delightful sayings first were produced by the candy manufacturer Necco. Although the candy’s formula has remained fairly consistent throughout the years, the sayings on conversation hearts candy have changed and evolved over the years. Necco actually held a contest for new conversation heart sayings and flavors to welcome in a new generation of Valentine’s Day candy gifters with novel new sayings including:

TWEET ME, TEXT ME, YOU ROCK, SOUL MATE, LOVE BUG, and ME+YOU

Then in 2018 the unthinkable happened.  Necco, the manufacturer of Conversation Hearts, went bankrupt and the future of these treats as well as others such as Necco Wafers and the SkyBar candy bar were in doubt.  Products disappeared from shelves for several years as other candy manufacturers picked up bits and pieces of one of America’s oldest candy companies.

One of those companies turned out to be Spangler Candy who restarted production of these Valentine’s Day candy staples in 2020.  Thank heaven, as Valentine’s Day just isn’t complete without getting a box of these treats from a secret admirer or BFF!

So, in 2021 Spangler is rolling out new sayings for Conversation Hearts which include:

IGOTU BABE, CRAZY NLUV, PER FECT, SUMMR LOVIN, LOVE SHAK, STILL THE 1, and ALLMY LIFE as well as more:

Just as Santa is preparing the reindeer and tuning up his sleigh for his once-a-year midnight ride, the elves in our candy warehouse are getting ready for two more big holidays that are right around the corner.

Yes, as soon as all the Christmas treats are gone, we’ll be busy stocking every nook and cranny of our warehouse with delicious Valentine’s Day and Easter candy. Actually, we begin ordering candy for these holidays months in advance so we’re sure to have the best selection once the manufacturers start shipping.

Once the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Eve we begin getting ready for Valentine’s Day, the “sweetest” holiday of the year. While you may think boxed chocolates destined for someone’s sweetheart are the biggest seller, think again!

New and exciting Valentine’s Day candy debuts every year right alongside classics such as those boxes of chocolates we mentioned and of course conversation hearts that have been saying “I Love You” since 1901.

Unfortunately, one particular candy won’t be making an appearance this Valentine’s Day thanks to the ongoing supply chain, distribution, and labor issues that have been commonplace thanks to COVID-19.

Which one? Heart-shaped Marshmallow PEEPS.

Yes, everyone’s favorite fluffy, marshmallow treat won’t be available for Valentine’s Day this year. Now before you start wondering about the fate of PEEPS come Easter time, have no fear! The manufacturer, Just Born, has assured us that all hands are on deck to make sure there are plenty of Easter PEEPS to go around.

In fact, they’re holding off on Valentine’s Day PEEPS in order to focus their efforts on making sure that PEEPS are in abundance for Easter. After all, Easter and PEEPS go hand-in-hand!

So while you’re getting ready to unwrap gifts, we’re getting ready for the next two big holidays for candy lovers! Stay tuned to see all that’s new as we turn the calendar to 2022.

A favorite hard candy has made a comeback after a ten-year absence and fans are super excited to get their hands on a bag or roll.

Creme Savers were discontinued back in 2011 and have returned to shelves, candy dishes, and yes… purses everywhere, but with a slight change.  The original Creme Savers came in fruit, tropical, and dessert flavor, however, since being reintroduced in September, they now come in Orange & Creme and Strawberry & Creme.

The new flavors are designed to attract a whole new fan base of these famous sweets your parents and grandparents enjoyed.

Along with new flavors, new packaging makes this classic hard candy easier tote around.  Each flavor is available in a 6.25oz bag – perfect for filling up that candy dish – and a 12 piece roll that’s easy to take along in a purse or pocket.  Of course, each piece of delicious candy is individually wrapped.

Speaking of hard candy, another classic has made a triumphant return.  Connoisseurs of Reed’s Butterscotch Candy were overjoyed to see it back in production once again.  

Around for over 100 years, Reed’s candies are right up there on our list of favorite classic candies and who can resist that delicious butterscotch flavor?

Just in time to warm up the holidays’ Dunkin’ Hot Chocolate Bombs have arrived and well… they’re HOT!

We’ve known about these for a few months now and have been anxiously awaiting for them to arrive at our huge candy warehouse.  As soon as they got here, we couldn’t wait to grab a few and do some taste testing.

Available in not one, but two delicious flavors, the Dunkin’ Hot Chocolate Bombs got their inspiration from the coffee and donut chain’s most popular hot chocolate flavors – original and mint.  

The Dunkin’ Hot Chocolate Bomb has a rich, delicious Belgian chocolate shell, while the Dunkin’ Mint Hot Chocolate Bomb’s chocolate shell has a delicious minty flavor perfect for the holidays.  Tucked away inside the shell are fluffy mini marshmallows, because what hot chocolate isn’t complete without them?

Now here’s the fun part… heat up about 6 ounces of milk and pour it into your favorite mug.  Place the bomb inside then pour the hot milk over it.  Watch as the silky smooth chocolate transforms into the best cup of hot chocolate you’ll ever have.

We made a few bombs in both flavors to see which one we thought was the best. While everyone loved the Dunkin Hot Chocolate Bomb and thought it would be great year-round, we all agreed that for the holidays the Dunkin Mint Hot Chocolate Bomb is going to be a top-seller!  After all, Christmas time and minty flavors do go hand in hand and we’ve been known to stir our hot chocolate using a peppermint stick or candy cane.
