Looking for fun things to do at home with your family now that spring is here and summer is right around the corner? We previously talked about fun activities such as making S’mores and whipping up a batch or two of delicious Rice Krispies Treats using our new kits. Today, our sights are set on Movie Night!
Movies are a great way to bring the whole family together for an hour or two of wholesome entertainment. Here’s some tips for planning a movie night with your family:
- Pick the venue! You don’t need to get in your car for family movie night, have everyone vote on whether to screen the chosen movie either indoors or outdoors. Inflatable movie screens and projectors for outdoor viewing are readily available online and they’re not as expensive as you may think.
- Pick the movie! Will it be a comedy, mystery, thriller, or a classic like Mary Poppins? Let everyone pick one movie they would like to see, and then either vote or randomly pull a title out of a hat to choose the evening’s flick.
- Pick the snacks! We admit, this is our favorite part of planning for family movie night and there’s no shortage of recommendations, so let’s roll film on some great movie candy and snacks.
Popcorn
Nobody can watch a movie without snacking on popcorn, so having this snack on hand is considered a must. We like to make ours the old fashioned way, on the stove or in an popper, as opposed to the microwave.
Concession Stand Size Snacks
If you really want to get creative, you can setup a concession stand somewhere in your house where everyone can go and pick out a snack or two to take into the “theatre.” Of course, since this is movie night, skimpy size bags of candy won’t cut it. You need the big sizes just like they sell at your local theatre’s concession stand. We’ve got a huge selection of movie theatre size candy to choose from including all time favorites like Jujyfruits, Mike & Ike, and of course, Twizzlers.
Helpful Tip: Choose your candy wisely! It’s warm out there this time of year, so choose candy that won’t melt during transit. Gummy candy, licorice and other types that won’t melt are what we recommend so your audience isn’t disappointed by a melted mess of chocolate.
Theme Candy to the Movie
Now’s here where you can become the star of movie night. If you’re going to be watching the classic film JAWS, be sure to order a bag of gummy sharks!
Watching a Disney movie featuring Mickey Mouse and pals? Don’t forget to order some bags of Mickey and Minnie Mouse Jelly Belly jelly beans.
There’s so many different ways to pair candy with the type of movie your watching, so put your thinking cap on and use the search feature on our site to come with the perfect movie-candy pairing.
Cotton Candy
Cotton candy, or candy floss, isn’t just found at fairs and carnivals and you don’t need a machine at home to make it for your night at the movies. We have ready-to-eat cotton candy in a rainbow of flavors that makes it easy to add this sweet treat to your lineup.
Planning a family movie night isn’t hard and everyone can play a role in making it come to life. So pick your movie, order your candy and snacks, and get ready to yell… roll film!
