The holidays are rapidly approaching and the new year will be here before you know it. As we turn the calendar and begin to look forward to 2020, there’s one thing all of us here are excited about.
If you’re a nostalgic candy fan, you probably heard the sad news several months ago about the closing of the 170-year old New England Confectionary Company. Who’s that? Well, they’re more commonly known as Necco – the makers of the “original candy wafer” a classic candy that’s been around since 1847.
These hard wafer candies have a cult following and, well, you either love them or hate them! Either way, when production ceased in 2018, Necco Wafer lovers around the world stocked up on their favorite sweet treat.
But hang on!
The Necco Wafer is coming back! Yes, it’s true. The Spangler Candy Company purchased the original recipe and began producing what is perhaps the quintessential classic candy of all time.
The old fashioned candy treat will be available once again in January 2020 and we’re going to be one of the first nostalgic candy stores to have them in stock.
