Does your idea of the perfect Saturday include sitting in the stands watching your kids practice their way to becoming the next Babe Ruth? (No, not Baby Ruth! But those are delicious!) For many parents, kids, and coaches, there really is nothing as fun as heading to the park for a little baseball or softball on a warm Spring day. The love of the game is practically in our blood, and the clear, crisp sound of the bat cracking against the ball as it seemingly moves in slow motion through the air brings an excitement movies and video games just can’t match. In the immortal words of Jack Norworth, “Take me out to the ball game, Take me out with the crowd; Buy me some Peanuts and Cracker Jack, I don’t care if I never get back.” Ah, Jack, indeed I would not care if I never got back. Just imagining the sounds, smells, and smiles is making this office seem smaller than ever!
But this lounging in the bleachers all day just isn’t as enjoyable without suitable snacks, no matter how good the game is. Concession stand offerings at the ballpark have expanded quite a bit over the years, but it’s the classics we see our customers turning to time and again, including David Sunflower Seeds. I was fortunate enough to grow up in a small town that boasted two corner candy stores, and for however much candy my friends and I purchased, we always grabbed a bag of sunflower seeds or Pumpkin Seeds, another popular pick. These were ‘the snacks that followed you back’. A bag of sunflower or pumpkin seeds could be lazily enjoyed on the walk home, and you’d still have some left when you got there!
A good concession stand is not built on seeds alone, though they are a great place to begin and…pardon the pun…grow from! Other fun and flavorful favorites include Big League Chew, Shredded Beef Jerky, and for a more substantial snack, Miller’s Hot Bologna. Yep, we pretty much offer everything you need to make your stand a success! Except hot dogs…we don’t have hot dogs. But we do have Gummy Hot Dogs and Hot Dog Containers, does that count? 🙂
